Healthwatch Cornwall attend the South West Clinical Senate Assembly’s annual conference
Last week Healthwatch Cornwall attended the South West Senate Assembly’s Annual Conference which featured around 100 clinicians, commissioners and public representatives from across the South West joining the team for a day of exciting presentations exploring the event’s theme: 3 Types of Knowledge: Research, Data and Experience.
The event was introduced by DR Kevin Fong Astrophysicist and ED Specialist who is also an author, journalist and TV documentary personality who delivered an engaging presentation exploring the idea that systems are more important than behaviour. The day also featured fascinating insight in to the use of robots in Healthcare from EPIC.
The day was rounded off with a poignant talk by former doctor-turned-comedian and bestselling author of ‘This is Going to Hurt’, Adam Kay. Adam had the room gripped with anecdotes that effortlessly jumped from the hilarity to the heartbreak of life as a junior doctor. He made a call to action to ensure we better care for the mental health of our NHS front line staff.
